PATTERN IS IN FINNISH
The Kokalmus bag's shape is constructed from two squares. The squares are easy to measure, meaning there's no need to print or draw separate patterns; you only need a measuring tape.
For the bag fabric, it's advisable to choose a material that isn't particularly stretchy, doesn't fray easily, and is soft enough to gather without being too thin. If the fabrics are too thin, fusible interlining can be ironed onto them to help the bag hold its shape better. Fabrics that are too thick, on the other hand, won't gather, which might result in a different final look.
The instructions include measurements for three different sizes, although Kokalmus can be easily scaled to other sizes as well. Thanks to its scalability, Kokalmus is easy to make from recycled materials.
All measurements in the instructions are given in centimeters for easy readability, and images have been added to aid comprehension. Kokalmus is primarily sewn with a straight stitch, except for attaching the outer fabric ribbon, which uses a zigzag stitch. However, following the instructions requires some attention to detail, and using the measuring tape as instructed is recommended.
