The Neule magazine design competition was held in spring 2026, and the winning entry was the Neule sweater designed by Anne Aaltonen of Rumat Studio. The design became the official garment of Neule magazine. The Neule sweater reflects Neule magazine’s timeless, uncomplicated, and calm aesthetic.

The sweater is a classic cabled design with a slightly cropped, boxy silhouette. The body has generous ease around the waist, adding comfort and ease of wear. The sleeves are more fitted, preventing excess bulk and allowing the sweater to fit comfortably under most coats.

The body is worked in the round from the bottom up to the armholes, after which the front and back are worked flat separately. The shoulder seams are sewn together, and stitches for the sleeves are then picked up around the armholes. The sleeves are worked seamlessly in the round. The sweater is finished with a plush double-fold collar. The edge of the collar is folded to the inside and sewn to the inner seam. The collar is designed to sit neatly around the neck without feeling restrictive.

Video tutorials for the sweater have already been published, with more to come. #neuleneule

The grey Neule sweater was knitted using Vuonue Recycled Tilta yarn specified in the pattern and is shown in size M-L (yarn provided for the project). The brown Neule sweater is size S. The remaining sweaters were knitted by test knitters, which is indicated separately in the respective photos.
