The main yarn, or A-yarn, used for the vest is soft and fluffy bouclé yarn, but the pattern is also suitable for other yarns that achieve the same gauge. The Hossa Fleece is knitted top-down in flat stockinette stitch, with the purl stitches on the right side of the work to emphasize the bouclé effect.

The pattern is classified as intermediate difficulty, as bouclé yarn is not the easiest to knit. For example, distinguishing stitches can be challenging. However, knitting can be made easier by choosing a dark bouclé yarn as the A-yarn and knitting the vest in garter stitch, as the final result is almost identical in appearance with a slightly lighter execution.

Knitting begins at the neck: stitches are increased on every row to form the shoulders. The back piece is knitted until it reaches the bottom edge of the armholes, after which the front pieces are knitted alternately. Their stitches are picked up from the I-cord edges knitted along the shoulder edges of the back piece. The fit of the vest can be adjusted by making changes to the front pieces according to the instructions. Once the front pieces are of a suitable length, all three pieces are joined together and knitting continues seamlessly in one flat piece.

Once the body is complete, the collar is knitted. Finally, the I-cord edges are knitted, and the zipper is sewn on. By choosing different colored yarns for the edges and collar, the vest can easily be personalized.

Needles for A-yarn: 4.5 mm ~80 cm circular needles or size to achieve correct gauge

Gauge for A-yarn: 14 sts x 25 rows = 10 x 10 cm in stockinette stitch

B-yarn (collar and edges): Aran weight yarn (100 g / 180-200 m) 50 (50) 75 (75) 75 (75) 75 g I recommend using leftover yarns, for example: Novita 7 veljestä or Sandnes Garn Peer Gynt

Needles for B-yarn: 4 & 4.5 mm ~60 cm circular needles or sizes to achieve correct gauges

Gauge for B-yarn: Collar 18 sts x 26 rows = 10 x 10 cm in stockinette stitch and I-cord 14-16 sts / 10 cm

Additionally: Zipper according to the finished garment measurements or 50 (50) 50 (50) 55 (55) cm, safety pins, stitch markers, measuring tape, sewing thread and needle

Difficulty: ★★★☆☆, intermediate.

A-yarn can be substituted with, for example, the following (yardage may vary): Istex Alafosslopi, Lana Grossa Orsetto, Phil Alpaga Bouclé, Hobbii Bouclé, Hobbii Stevie Doodle, Novita Halaus, Drops Alpaca Bouclé together with Drops Flora, Isager Bouclé together with Isager Soft.
