The USVA-pakki is an absolute top choice for scrap yarn projects. Its size is easily adaptable according to available materials, and it's simple to incorporate yarns of different thicknesses and qualities into it.

The pouch is knitted with silk mohair, used either triple or quadruple stranded depending on the yarn thickness. By changing the yarn colors one at a time, you achieve a misty gradient effect. In this case, there's no need to weave in individual yarn ends: you can simply snip them with scissors.

The pouch is lined with a lightweight 3D mesh fabric (330 g/m²), often used for backpack straps, for example. Together with the silk mohair, the lining fabric creates a very light yet sturdy structure. A similar result can also be achieved with, for example, batting-quilted lining fabric. Any sufficiently sized leftover fabric is suitable for the lining. Non-fraying fabrics are particularly easy to sew by hand, and thinner fabrics can be reinforced by ironing interfacing onto them if needed.

The pouch is knitted in a 1x1 rib stitch. The three-dimensional rectangular shape is created by increasing and decreasing stitches during knitting. The shape of the lining is copied from the finished knit, and finally, the pouch is sewn together and a zipper is attached. No sewing machine is needed, as all parts can be easily sewn by hand.

Note! The pattern does not use pre-defined stitch or centimeter counts, but rather relies on simple addition calculations (e.g., A cm + B cm = C cm). The work steps are clearly described with both text and illustrations, making the pattern well-suited for beginners. The pattern does not require printing. 

Sizes: This pattern allows you to create a pouch of any size in a three-dimensional rectangular shape

Needles: 4.5 mm knitting needles or circular needles 

Gauge: approx. 17 sts and 24 rows = 10 x 10 cm in rib stitch  

Yarn: Silk mohair knitted with 3 or 4 strands, depending on the thickness of your scrap yarns (sample made with 3x Drops Kids Silk), approx. 50 g is enough for a pouch measuring 18 x 12 x 16 cm

Additionally: 

- 10 cm of 2 cm wide ribbon (for handles)

- zipper (e.g., 30 cm used in the sample) 

- lining fabric, amount depends on the pouch size

- needle and thread for sewing
